NotaBotYet Howler Monkey PRO (NEW!) Headphone Amplifier
The Howler Monkey PRO is engineered to deliver precise, reliable amplification of audio sources to virtually any pair of headphones. It features +4 dBu balanced stereo line inputs via an RJ-45 connector, all housed in a rugged, compact 12-gauge aluminum chassis. The Howler Monkey PRO is built from the ground up for professional environments.
The Howler Monkey PRO isn’t a replacement for the original Howler Monkey—it’s a fraternal twin with its own mission. Purpose-built for live sound and recording studios, it delivers the same precision and reliability as the original, but in a rugged, portable form.
Many headphone amps on the market are optimized for high-end, high-impedance headphones (200–600 ohms). But in our lab tests, we found that these amps often underperform with the low-impedance headphones commonlyused in broadcast studios. At moderate listening levels, they couldn’t supply enough current, resulting in severe distortion. Others had the opposite issue—unable to deliver enough voltage for high-impedance headphones.
Features
Just like the original, the name comes from one of the loudest animals on Earth. Adult howler monkeys can hit nearly 140 decibels and be heard from 3 miles away. While they thrive in Central and South America, the Howler Monkey PRO is right at home on stage or in the studio.
Then we added “PRO” to the end. Whether you think that stands for “Production-Ready and Overengineered,” or “Precision Roadie Optimized,” it really just means that this is the next level and has “Precision Rockin’ Output!”
