Overview
Quasar Engine RPS is a standard Quasar Engine that includes an RPS board - the equivalent of the surface’s Master Module - making it possible for us to create a standalone mixer that can operate without a physical XR or SR surface.
A traditional Quasar installation consists of both a Quasar Engine and a Quasar Surface (the console itself). The Quasar Master Module inside the surface is responsible for, among other things, generating the Quasar Soft remote user interface, which allows the physical surface to be controlled remotely through any HTML5 web browser, including support for touchscreens.
Use Cases
Quasar Engine RPS is ideal for situations where a physical console isn’t necessary or practical, such as remote broadcasts, small studios, backup facilities, or as a lower-cost backup to a main hardware surface. In addition to Quasar Soft, Quasar Cast is included and used for low-latency audio monitoring from a remote location.
Quasar Engine RPS can also be used in situations where a physical XR or SR console is already installed. In this case, the user can choose whether to control the Engine mixing functions from the hardware console, from the Quasar Soft surface provided by the console, or from the Quasar Soft surface provided by the RPS card.
Deliverables
Customers will be able to order a Quasar Engine with the RPS card pre-installed as “Quasar Engine RPS.” Existing Quasar Engine hardware can be upgraded to a Quasar Engine RPS in the field by ordering and installing the “RPS Upgrade Kit”, which includes the RPS card, mounting bracket, and an installation and quick-start guide.
Each Quasar Engine RPS includes Quasar Soft (for mixing), Quasar Cast (for monitoring), and like the standard Quasar Engine, 16 mixer channels. Additional channel expansion licenses are optionally available.
Each Engine RPS Upgrade Kit includes a Quasar Soft license, which includes Quasar Cast.
